Apprenticeships and work experience
If you are interested in apprenticeships or work experience placement contact us.
View our apprenticeship case study videos (youtube.com) with Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council employees talking about their experience showing first-hand the success and what it can lead to.
Below are some of the actions we achieved in supporting apprenticeships and work experience:
-
We support budget for two apprentice posts on a rolling basis
-
We will continue to identify apprentice opportunities as part of service workforce planning and a 'grow our own approach' to maximise people’s potential through employment and skills support
-
We have offered apprentices in areas including ICT, regulatory compliance, facilities management, plastering, HR, housing, electrical installation, built environment and design, finance and business administration
-
We pay a starting salary of at least £24,027 per annum pro rata instead of the lower national minimum apprenticeship rate
-
We make sure apprenticeships are considered as viable vacancies and new post options for new and existing staff
-
We support work experience and placement opportunities, working with the Department for Work and Pensions to support those not in education, employment or training (NEETs) to help develop their skills and suitability for apprenticeships in the future
Apprenticeship reporting data
All public bodies with 250 or more staff in England as of 31 March each year, who were previously in scope of the public sector apprenticeship target 2017-2022 were required to collect and reporting data annually on apprenticeships until the 31 March 2024.
The information required was:
-
The number of employees in England that work for the body on 31 March, prior to and at the end of the period (that is, 31 March 2023 and 31 March 2024).
-
The number of new employees who started working for you in England between 1 April and 31 March
-
The number of apprentices in England who work for the body on 31 March, prior to and at the end of the period (i.e. 31 March 2023 and 31 March 2024)
-
The number of apprentices whose apprenticeship agreement started between 1 April and 31 March
The government has taken the decision following consultation with stakehodlers to stop requesting this data and this will now be monitored with data shared by the apprenticeship service.
