Equality and Human Rights Commission
Overview
The Equality and Human Rights Commission provides information and practical guidance about all aspects of equality to employers, the voluntary and public sectors and to individuals.
The Commission also promotes equality and tackles discrimination in relation to protected characteristics which includes age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership (only with regard to eliminating unlawful discrimination), pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation. In addition, it also has a responsibility to promote and protect human rights and provide institutional support for the Human Rights Act.
