Celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day

Please read the following guidance notes before making an application.
Organisation Eligibility
- Voluntary Community Sector (VCS), not for profit organisations and Town or Parish Councils within the Hinckley and Bosworth area
- Have a constitution / set of rules / articles of association and can confirm legal status (not required for Town or Parish Councils)
- Have a bank account in the name of the organisation with more than one signatory not related or co-habiting and have available the most recent bank statement
Criteria
- Grants of up to £300 are available to help towards the cost of organising VE Day 80th Anniversary related community celebratory events between 3 May and 11 May 2025 inclusive. Examples include venue and equipment hire, entertainment, resources and materials
- Food and refreshments included in applications will only be supported up to a maximum of £100 per grant
- If holding a community event, it is assumed that the organisation has the relevant policies and procedures in place to hold the event safely (for example, public liability insurance, safeguarding policy, health and safety, food hygiene awareness to support the project)
- The grant must be spent within the Borough of Hinckley & Bosworth and must be over and above your organisation's usual offering (i.e. is an additional offer to the community)
- Events that will be selling food and drink, having live music on a stage or on council land or a green space need to apply for a temporary event notice from Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council. Details of how to apply for any road closures/restrictions can be found by visiting roadworks closures and diversions (leicestershire.gov.uk)
What will not be funded
- Applications for retrospective funding. (Such as expenditure incurred prior to the approval of the grant)
- Double funding where funding has been obtained from alternative sources for the same thing
Publicity
The recipients of this grant fund must acknowledge the Borough Council’s support in any marketing publicity.
Application process
To apply for a grant to fund VE Day 80th Anniversary events, please complete the online grant application form and upload a copy of your most recent bank statement or paying in slip and constitution or set of rules/articles of association. Payment
Successful grant applicants will receive a single payment of up to £300 by BACS only.
Monitoring report on activity delivered
Please supply images of what the grant was spent on, i.e. a picture of your community event. These pictures maybe used in a promotional resource.
General conditions
The grant must be spent on or before 11 May 2025.
If an organisation does not use the grant for the purposes for which it was awarded the council may seek to reclaim some or the entire grant awarded.
