Licensing overview and contact details
Licence refusal
The council will refuse a licence if the applicant is not suitable to hold a particular licence or in the interest of public safety, which is the overriding factor. We may also receive an objection to an application during the consultation process from members of the public, or a responsible authority such as Leicestershire Police. If an objection is received, the applicant will be informed in writing and will be given the opportunity to respond to it at a licensing hearing
If we decide to refuse the application, the applicant may have the right to appeal to either the Magistrates' court or the crown court depending on the legislation that governs that particular licence.
