Electric vehicle resident's parking permit
Overview
We currently have 46 electric vehicle (EV) charging points available: 24 in Hinckley town centre, eight at Hallfields car park, Earl Shilton, eight at Stanley Street car park, Barwell, and six at Rectory Lane car park, Market Bosworth.
The Hallfields and Stanley Street car parks are free to park in and therefore do not require a permit.
The EV residents permits are only available for the 24 electric vehicle (EV) charging points that are available in two long stay car parks in Hinckley:
- Lower Bond Street, LE10 1QU: 12 charging points
- Castle car park (Hill Street), LE10 1DS: 12 charging points
If you live within a seven-minute walk from one of these car parks, and you do not have the access to charge your EV off-street at home, you can apply for a free resident's electric vehicle parking permit.
The permits are only valid whilst your vehicle is charging in a designated EV bay, and payment for the charging itself still applies.
Price
The electric vehicle residents permit is currently free and is valid for one year only.
Please note, payment for the charging itself still applies and is payable to Pod Point Ltd. For more information about charging points and to download the Pod Point app, please visit Pod Point (pod-point.com)
How to apply
These are electronic permits. You will not receive a paper permit. Your permit details can be viewed by our parking enforcement officers electronically.
When you apply, you will be asked to provide proof of your home address, and a copy of your V5 document as proof of your vehicle status. We may refuse your application if you do not meet the criteria.
You can apply for an electric vehicle residents permit through the MiPermit portal. You will be asked to create a MiPermit account after you have applied for your parking permit.
