About our clean neighbourhood officers
The officers work to reduce the incidence of environmental crime and improve the cleanliness of neighbourhoods. They do this through both enforcement and education, aiming to reduce the incidence of problems such as fly-tipping, dog fouling, littering, graffiti and abandoned or untaxed vehicles.
The officers aim to help communities to improve the cleanliness of their own neighbourhoods by assisting with community litter picks, litter volunteers and other relevant campaigns. Please feel free to contact them to discuss any of these issues.
Each officer also supervises a team of street cleansing operatives who, in turn, are allocated an area of the borough to maintain to an agreed standard of cleanliness.
We often refer to the east and west side of the borough. We use the A447 as the dividing line between the two sides of the borough.
Aims:
- To deliver a cleaner, greener, and safer environment
- To ensure prompt action on littering, fly-tipping, vandalism, dog fouling, fly-posting and graffiti
- To target issues such as discarded needles
- To report faulty street lighting
- To identify and report abandoned vehicles
- To provide information about the Borough Council's services
- To respond to community safety enquiries from the public
- To provide reassurance to the public to reduce the fear of crime
- To use fixed penalty notices to enforce against various environmental offences
Service standards:
- To remove reported dog fouling within one working day
- To remove reported offensive graffiti within one working day
- To remove reported non-offensive graffiti within two to five working days
- To remove reported fly-tips within two to five working days
- To investigate reported abandoned vehicles within 14 working days
The clean neighbourhood officers will always act with integrity, common sense and will show tolerance, understanding and courtesy. Remember, they are always there to help.
