How the European elections were administered
Overview
The European Parliamentary Elections were held on 23 May 2019 and results declared on 26 May 2019.
Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, along with 40 other local councils which make up the East Midlands Region, elected five members of European Parliament (MEPs) to represent the region.
The elections were administered on the closed party list system. Under this system, parties nominated up to five candidates for the region and they were elected on the basis of the number of results each party receives. Independent candidates were also permitted to stand.
