Burbage conservation area review
Burbage conservation area public exhibition
What was it all about?
To draw the public’s attention to the review of the Burbage conservation area. The review took the form of a comprehensive appraisal which assessed the significance of the designated area and analysed how that significance was vulnerable to change.
The following documents were prepared for the area:
- Purpose of the exhibition (PDF)
- Appraisal (PDF)
- Appraisal map (PDF)
- Listed building index (PDF)
- Roof survey (PDF)
- Management plan - long term strategy (PDF)
- Management plan map (PDF)
- Photographic record (PDF)
Together, these documents provided a description of the historical development of the settlement and set out the important features of the area that should be protected. The benefits of the review are that it provided a sound basis for decisions on future development proposals, helped to develop initiatives to improve the area and provided an educational and informative document for the local community.
Who got involved
Residents, business owners and members of the public having interests in the area were encouraged to get involved, together with:
- The Parish Council
- Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council Members
- Heritage groups
Twenty responses were received during the consultation period. The appraisal and review was adopted by Planning Committee on 13 December 2011.
