Music in the Mead returns
The first in a series of popular outdoor live music performances wowed the crowds on Saturday afternoon (21 May) when Out of Gas performed popular covers of pop from the sixties to the present day.
The sun shone on Music in the Mead a free entry event organised by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council that takes place on Saturdays throughout the summer months in Argents Mead.
There will be more free live music performances taking place in Argents Mead and Hollycroft Park to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next week.
- Thursday 2 June, Proms in the Park, Hollycroft Park, Hinckley: In partnership with Hinckley Round Table an evening concert with Leicester’s Bardi Wind Orchestra performing ‘Happy and Glorious’ a programme of royal music. Gates open at 5pm, show commences 6pm with 8.30pm finish. The event is free to attend, and no booking is necessary, however, capacity is limited in the auditorium area and will be on a first come first served basis
- Friday 3 June Music in the Mead Theatre style show, ‘Salute to the 1940s’: Features a cast of six performing tributes to Vera Lynn, George Formby, Gracie Fields, and similar plus a walkabout entertainer. 1pm to 3pm, free entry
- Saturday 4 June: The Emperors of Rhythm will have you dancing with 1950s songs including hits by Tommy Steel, Billy Fury, and Rock n roll plus a walkabout entertainer. 1pm to 3pm, free entry
Other free live music performances coming up later this summer in Argents Mead include:
- 18 June: Steven Faulkener accompanied by Dan Gerrey playing songs from his critically acclaimed recent releases
- 2 July: Jazzology perform modern and traditional jazz and blues
- 23 July: The Sounds of Swing - Dean Thomas performs a one-man tribute to all things swing
- 13 August: V4 perform their tribute to boy bands
- 20 August: Sam Southall performs popular covers
- 3 September: LE8 FIVE offers a chance to hear a brass quintet performance
- 10 September: Audio Spirit will perform original songs and covers
The performances all take place from 1-3pm and are free to attend with no booking required.
