Hinckley's Hollycroft Park will come alive with the sound of music when the popular Proms in the Park concert returns on Saturday 10 June.

Organised by the Borough Council and Hinckley Round Table, the free open-air concert will feature performances from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Wind Orchestra, an ensemble comprising more than 50 talented young musicians.

Under the baton of acclaimed conductor David Gordon-Shute, the RBC Wind Orchestra will be performing a feast of well-known music including much-loved scores from films Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lord of the Rings and Saving Private Ryan; an arrangement specially for wind band of Peter Graham’s epic Metropolis 1927; and some British favourites by William Walton, Malcolm Arnold and Henry Wood – with Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 ensuring that the concert ends in true flag-waving style.

Local business Bond Street Distillery will be providing an outdoor bar for adult visitors to enjoy and stalls will  be selling tea, coffee and ice cream. Hinckley Round Table will also be holding a raffle, with proceeds going to local good causes.

Stewart Warden of Hinckley Round Table said:

"We are delighted to be working with the borough council on this event. We are best known for our Santa Sleigh in December but the rest of the year we are having fun and raising more money for local charities and causes. This free concert is great for the local community and Hinckley Round Table is proud to be part of that community.”

Council Leader, Stuart Bray, said:

"This year’s Proms in the Park comes swiftly after the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and I am sure that this event will be another great opportunity to celebrate this momentous occasion in the country’s history. We welcome David Gordon-Shute and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra and look forward to a fun filled evening. So, bring your deck chairs and picnics or enjoy an ice cream or drink from one of the refreshment stalls and settle down to enjoy the great musical talent, the singing and the flag waving in our award winning park.”

Union flags will be handed out at the event and made from sustainable forestry. Flags can be taken home and are 100% recyclable or biodegradable. However, if you would like to return your flag/s to be re-used, then please hand to a member of staff on leaving.

To coincide with the start of Great Big Green Week (10 June) our musical programme is available to download from our website prior to the event, with only a limited supply of printed programmes available on the day. Visitors are encouraged to download the programme on to a mobile device or as an alternative, take a photo on your phone of the programme from one of our large posters displayed around the park when you arrive.
