Hinckley tucks into a Feast
A popular food festival wowed the public over the weekend (5 and 6 August) when it returned to Hinckley for its sixth year.
Visitors to the borough council’s free-to-attend Feast Hinckley in Argents Mead had to brave an array of weather conditions as they enjoyed the food on offer. However, they were spoiled for choice with more than 45 vendors offering a range of national and international cuisine. Performances from four live bands and performers, Richie Phillips, Ukulele Box Vox, Debbie Lacey and Knoxville Highway, played across the weekend and a 120ft giant inflatable assault course sponsored by Hinckley BID kept the kids happy on Sunday.
Local radio station Fosse 107 provided the soundtrack to the weekend and even four-legged friends were considered with stalls selling a variety of pet treats.
Executive Member for Leisure, Deputy Leader at the Borough Council, Councillor Mark Bools said:
“It was a real delight to have this popular food festival return to Hinckley. I have heard so many comments from people saying how much they enjoyed the food, drink and entertainment on offer, there was something for everyone. The weather was kind on Sunday with plenty of sunshine but very wet on Saturday, yet despite that, people still came along in their coats and wellies and enjoyed everything on offer. Visitors had plenty of food options including gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan and 60% of the vendors are located within 10 miles of the town centre.
“My thanks to our events team, Fosse 107, Leicester Event Medical Team, to all our council Street Scene and Green Spaces Teams and to the vendors and of course to the thousands of people who came along and supported this great event.”
Feast returns to Argents Mead next August and planning is already well underway for the popular Festive Feast and Crafts Market taking place on Sunday December 10 in Market Place, Hinckley. Visit the Facebook page @feasthinckley for highlights and information about future events.
