Closure order issued on Hinckley flat
The tenant and all visitors have been banned from a council flat in Hinckley after a number of anti-social incidents were reported to both the Police and council.
The order was granted after local residents were subjected to incidents of anti-social behaviour which included late night disturbances, suspected drug misuse and rowdy and nuisance behaviour.
A three-month closure order was issued on Friday 30 July by Leicester Magistrates Court banning the tenant and all visitors to the property at Flat 16, Bennett Close, Hinckley. Only the landlord or the emergency services are currently permitted to enter to flat.
Executive Member for Housing and Community Safety at the Borough Council, Councillor Michael Mullaney, said:
Local residents were having to put up with offensive anti-social behaviour from this property so I am glad action has been taken to help solve the problem. Everyone should be able to feel safe in their own home and this type of behaviour is unacceptable and this demonstrates that we will take action if required.
A copy of the closure order has been displayed outside the flat and anyone breaching the order could be arrested and, if found guilty, could face a punishment of up to 51 weeks in prison and/or an unlimited fine.
