Snap’tastic success for children’s festival
THE popular Snap Dragon Children and Family Festival returned for its 10th year this summer with a three-day schedule of activities that took place in Hinckley's Argents Mead.
The free event, which is organised by the Borough Council, took place from Wednesday 4 August to Friday 6 August with each day featuring a different theme and a selection of activities as well as sand play sponsored by Hinckley BID.
Children and their family and friends on Wednesday enjoyed National Play Day which included a role play village, teddy bears’ picnic, games garden and the chance to get creative in the Tuff tray corner. Thursday was Super Sports Day where children could have a go at tennis, enjoy an obstacle course or smoothie bike ride and get in the games garden to challenge friends and family to a game of giant jenga or have a hulahoop competition. Friday was Magical Fun Day where children had the chance to discover the whimsical woods with toadstool tents, talking flowers and tuff tray play, create a wand and cast a spell, make some giant bubbles or have fun in the animal hop race.
Event stewards were on hand, and hand sanitising stations were available during the event, making it a safe and enjoyable festival for all.
Executive Member for Culture at the Borough Council Councillor Keith Nichols said:
After the disappointment of having to cancel last year’s event along with so many other events last summer, it was great to see the Snapdragon Children and Families Festival back again this year offering our youngsters a chance to get out into the fresh air and play and have fun with friends and family. My thanks to the Events Team who worked tirelessly to make the event happen and thanks to everyone who came along and supported the event this year.
