Shoppers urged to ‘Love your local market’
Hinckley Market traders have joined thousands of others around the country to unite as part of the ‘Love Your Local Market Campaign’.
The campaign (which runs from Friday 17 May until 1 June), led by the National Association of British Market Authorities, aims to attract new visitors and shoppers to our markets and celebrate the important part they play in the local community.
To celebrate the campaign locally to enable shoppers to hear directly from Hinckley’s traders, the council has produced a series of short films featuring market traders speaking about their experience of being part of the market in Hinckley. Residents will recognise many of the traders, some who have traded in Hinckley for many years.
Funding for the videos was made available as part of Levelling Up through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The films will be shared on social media, and they will also be available on the council’s YouTube channel.
Council Leader, Councillor Stuart Bray said:
Our market is a crucial part of Hinckley history and its future. We want to celebrate our market, which remains a major attraction to visitors.
The variety of traders, and products on offer is a reminder that markets are a great place to go shopping, but also their importance to the local community. I would like to thank everyone who took part in the filming, these videos give a great overview of the variety of stalls available and why we should use our market. Let’s celebrate markets and the immense contribution they make to our towns and cities.
The project was undertaken by Hinckley-based Charles Wren Films.
