Communities set to celebrate with anniversary fund
Community and voluntary groups across Hinckley and Bosworth are being encouraged to apply for their share of a fund to commemorate the Borough Council’s milestone anniversary.
To mark its 50th year, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council is offering grants to help voluntary and community groups to join in the celebrations.
Grants of up to £500 are available to help towards the cost of organising 50th Anniversary related activities or events, this could include:
- Community events between 1 July – 1 December 2024
- Commemorative benches or trees
- HBBC anniversary orchards or wildflower gardens
Please note that food and refreshments included in applications will only be supported up to a maximum of £100.
To qualify, groups will need to demonstrate they are an existing or established voluntary group, and that the Hinckley and Bosworth 50th Anniversary celebrations are an extension of an existing offer to the community.
Grants are not available for private street parties.
Applications are being assessed on a regular basis in order that funds can be allocated in a timely way, but please note the final date for applications is 1st November 2024. The funds will close when all funds available have been allocated, which may be before the stated closing date.
Executive Member for Housing and Community Safety at the Borough Council, Cllr Michael Mullaney said: “This year is a special one for Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, as we celebrate the council’s 50th year of service and we hope this gives everyone across the borough the chance to join in the celebrations in their own local community. It’s also a great way to celebrate the fantastic work that community and voluntary groups do in our borough every day and thank those volunteers who do so much to help others.”
