Change of constituency for some voters
Some people in the borough will cast their votes in a different constituency during the general election on Thursday 4 July.
Following a review of parliamentary boundaries, voters in Groby, Markfield, Stanton Under Bardon, Field Head, Bagworth, Thornton and Ratby wards will now vote for the MP in the newly formed constituency of Mid Leicestershire. They previously voted in the Bosworth constituency.
Electors have begun to receive their poll cards from this week, which will tell them where to go to vote. Polling stations may be the same as for previous elections.
Bill Cullen, Returning Officer for Hinckley and Bosworth said:
Apart from the constituency you’re voting in, most things should be the same or familiar to voters in Ratby, Groby, Markfield, Bagworth and Thornton.
You will still get your poll card in the usual way, and you will most likely visit your usual polling station. Your polling station is shown on your poll card. Everyone needs to remember to bring photo I.D. to the polling station if you’re voting in person.
For election administration and enquiries – including registering to vote, applying for a postal or proxy vote – residents should still contact the elections team at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council on 01455 238141.
