Funding boosts for voluntary groups and organisations
Voluntary and community groups working with residents across the borough are being encouraged to apply for their share of two new grants.
The two grants offer sums of up to £500 and between £500 and £3,000 to help support community and voluntary projects across Hinckley and Bosworth.
The Making a Difference fund offers grants of £500 to £3,000 to kickstart new voluntary and community sector projects or to boost the impact of existing groups working in the borough.
Although a wide range of community projects are eligible, applications that help to tackle rural isolation, encourage youth engagement activities or that support climate change are particularly encouraged.
Previously the grant has funded projects including new toilet facilities on a community allotment, a training course for volunteers at a local running club, and targeted sports sessions for young people at risk of taking part in anti-social behaviour.
The second grant being launched for voluntary and community groups is the Community Volunteer Fund which offers grants of up to £500 to support grassroots volunteering and community activity across the borough. Although a wide range of community projects are eligible, projects that help to reduce the impact of climate change or that support the impact of the increased cost of living on residents are particularly encouraged.
Executive Member for Housing and Community Safety at the Borough Council, Councillor Michael Mullaney said: “We are fortunate to have many local community groups in Hinckley and Bosworth who do tremendous work. I would encourage any group that thinks it might be able to qualify to apply.”
Funded by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) and administered by the Rural Community Council (RCC), both grants offer community and voluntary groups a quick and easy way to apply for a small grant for their project.
The grants open on 12 July and a limited fund is available, so groups are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
