There will be a fun-packed day for the whole family when Burbage Common holds its annual open day on Sunday 8 September, re-arranged from earlier this year.

The main event will be held in the area around the visitor centre at the Leicester Road entrance. A large marquee will play host to a range of stalls including craft stalls, charity stalls and local and national environmental charities.

An arena will accommodate several displays over the course of the day including Morris dancing, TKT Cheerleaders, falconry display and a tai chi demonstration.

You can enter your dog into our dog show, registration on the day. There will be categories to accommodate all ages, shapes and sizes of dog. Prizes and a rosette can be won.

Other activities for the whole family will include bug and bird box making, donkey rides and archery.

You can stock up on tasty local produce when visiting the farmer’s market area. With many food and refreshments stalls, there’s no need to bring your own.

Admission to the event, which will run from 10:30am to 4:30pm, is free. Please note there may be a small charge for some of the activities and workshops held.

Executive Member for Parks Cllr Lynda Hodgkins said: “The annual Burbage Common open day is always a great day out for the whole family. There is something for everyone, so put the day in your diary and come along. We look forward to seeing you.”

There will be a one-way system for car parking, and we ask everyone to follow the signs and be aware of pedestrians.
