Children and families had plenty of fun on Saturday as Hinckley’s Argents Mead hosted free medieval activities as part of the Heritage Open Day series of events.

There was a jousting arena which played home to lots of activities, including a medieval skirmish, a shire court and a medieval battle. There were also Hurried History tales for children.

A series of  free Heritage Open Day events ran in the borough from Friday 6 September until Sunday 22 September, with other local highlights including a walking tour through Hinckley’s historic buildings and an exhibition of old photos.

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of culture and history and aims to open up access and insight to buildings not generally seen by the general public.

Cllr Mark Bools, Deputy Leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, said: “It was great to see people having fun at Argents Mead this past Saturday with the free medieval events.

“It’s another example of the great family fun events we have in the borough. Thank you all for coming and we look forward to seeing you at more events soon.”
