Update from the Leader, Councillor Stuart Bray:
Dear residents,
I know the last thing any of us wanted to face in the New Year was another lockdown; however, now, more than ever, we must do everything we can to protect the NHS, our health workers and our community.
The changing restrictions are challenging for us all, but Hinckley and Bosworth residents have already shown they can follow the rules and keep infection rates down and now that’s more important than ever if we are to keep our loved ones safe and enable our businesses to recover. We know that the new COVID-19 variant spreads incredibly quickly. Whilst our NHS has started the COVID vaccination programme, it will take a short time before enough people are vaccinated to protect our community. Until that time, we must all act now to protect our family and friends.
We know there will be many people in our communities who need help and support during these times and we are here to help. Our Resident Support Scheme remains open to help people who are self-isolating and may need some help as they have no support networks, like friends, family or neighbours. No one has to be alone; support is available whether that be a friendly voice to speak to on the phone, help getting food items if you have no one else to turn to or financial support through government grants. Since the pandemic first hit last year, our teams have been working with a range of local agencies, charitable organisations and local volunteers to offer whatever support we can.
If you are self-isolating or know somebody who is and has no or limited support networks such as friends, family or neighbours please call 01455 238141 or find out about the support available online: resident support scheme
I would also like to remind residents that whilst we need to socially distance, we also need to look out for each other. If you are able to do so, then can I ask you to volunteer to help those in our borough? You can register your interest with Next Generation, who is already working with registered charities in the area. Visit Next Generation's website (nextgenhinckley.org) and click on the volunteering link or email vcsinfo@nxt-gen.org.uk
Protect yourself and your loved ones. Stay safe.
