His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
“We are all deeply saddened to receive the news of the death of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh. As consort to Britain’s longest-reigning monarch HRH Queen Elizabeth II, The Duke of Edinburgh was deeply respected and admired throughout the world. On behalf of the elected members and all those who work for the Borough Council I would like to pass on my condolences to the Queen and all members of the Royal family at this very sad time. As a mark of respect, during the period of Royal mourning we will fly the union flag at half-mast across the Borough.”
Mayor of the Borough of Hinckley & Bosworth, Councillor Lynda Hodgkins
Messages of condolence
As a sign of respect to His Royal Highness and to minimise the coronavirus transmission risk, we politely ask that any flowers as tribute be placed in residents’ front gardens and/or windows or businesses’ frontages across the borough, rather than being placed in public areas.
