A warm welcome to the community
Public buildings and spaces around the borough offer a warm welcome to the community.
The Warm Welcome initiative runs from October to March. It aims to ensure that everyone knows where they can go to meet other people, have a hot drink and keep warm for free. Over the warmer months of the year, from April to September, these venues continue to offer friendly Community Welcome sessions. There may be a small fee for refreshments. There may also be the opportunity to have a snack or a light meal, take part in activities such as crafts or playing board games, and to make use of computers or free Wi-Fi.
You can also access a range of information, support and guidance on issues such as energy efficiency, wellbeing, money and budgeting.
Our local community has embraced this initiative, and we are fortunate to have more than 50 venues around the borough, providing more than 100 sessions per week. These venues are open to all and cover a broad range of organisations, including community centres, churches, village halls, community libraries, charities and leisure venues.
This list of community (warm) welcome venues is regularly updated. Find current locations and times in the various areas:
- Barlestone, Barwell, Botcheston, Burbage and Carlton
- Desford, Earl Shilton and Groby
- Higham on the Hill and Hinckley
- Market Bosworth, Markfield, Nailstone and Newbold Verdon
- Ratby, Sheepy Magna, Stanton under Bardon, Stoke Golding, Thornton and Twycross

Funding
All funding has now been allocated for winter 2024/2025.
Funding for Warm Welcome season 2025/2026 will be available to the voluntary community sector or not-for-profit organisations at the beginning of September. At this time, you may be eligible to apply for a grant to help with associated costs.
